The Games Book Sewing Pattern: Your Next Handmade Gift Adventure!

Do you love gifting handmade? Looking for your next sewing project? The Games Book might just be what you need! This customisable and playful fabric book is perfect for using your fabric stash to create something fun, interactive, and truly unique.

Whether you’re making it for someone special or as a creative project for yourself, the Games Book combines the joy of sewing with the fun of classic games.  All in a hand-stitched fabric book format. It’s not only a beautiful keepsake but also a functional game set, with pages designed to entertain for years to come.

What’s Involved:

The Games Book is designed with flexibility and creativity in mind. Each page is built on a 6.5” square quilt block, giving you the chance to incorporate your favourite fabric prints or experiment with different patchwork styles. And remember, not every page has to be a game you can let your imagination run wild and create storytelling elements alongside the fun!

You can finish your Games Book in two styles:

  • Folder Style: With removable pages, so you can swap out games or add new ones whenever you like.
  • Book Style: Pages are sewn into place for a more traditional, durable design.

Each version offers unique finishing options, allowing you to make the Games Book truly your own. You can mix and match your favourite games with these options:

  • Chess Board
  • Noughts and Crosses (Tic-Tac-Toe)
  • Memory / Snap Game
  • Snakes and Ladders
  • Games Board
  • Zipped Pockets for Game Pieces
  • Score Board
  • Spin Wheel

What You’ll Need:

The overall size of the Games Book is 17cm square (roughly 6" when sewn), making it a manageable project that works perfectly with fabric scraps or small selections of fat quarters. Here's what you'll need to get started:

  • Fabric scraps or fat quarters
  • Interfacing, wadding, and iron-on adhesive
  • Sewing needles, threads, and embroidery threads
  • Ribbon, string, felt pieces, buttons, or beads
  • A sewing machine (recommended for speed, but can be done by hand!)

Skill Level:

The pattern is suitable for confident beginners and beyond. It includes full-colour, step-by-step instructions to guide you through every detail. Whether you're piecing together tiny patchwork blocks or adding fun embroidered elements, you'll have all the help you need along the way.

If you'd rather skip some of the trickier sewing parts, such as creating detailed game boards, you can also order pre-printed fabric panels. These panels make the process easier without compromising on the final look.
